Welcome to the Summit Council for World Peace web site

The Summit Council has been very active and had a strong Washington, DC and international presence through the 1980s to 1997. From 1997, we chose to work under the auspices of the Universal Peace Federation (www.upf.org) in order to help it become a well-established international non-governmental organization in more than 100 countries. Indeed, we helped UPF to achieve that goal. In mid-2008, we decided it was time for us once again to take our place in the history-making of the world, particularly in the area of peace and development as we did in the ‘80s and ‘90s.

Peace and development has been the original goal of the Summit Council. We are expanding the concept of peace and development in the context of the role played by religion, spirituality, and universal shared values in the making of peace, development, in the governance of states, and the relationship between states in healing the ancient hatreds and grievances that plague communities, countries and regions around the world. We also want to harness the good will that has been accumulated through the work of organizations such as the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification, the Universal Peace Federation, and others.

Specifically we avail ourselves to help those organizations, international bodies, and institutions who are already working in the areas of integration, dialogue, and cooperation. For example, we are cooperating with the efforts of the Abrahamic faiths of Judaism, Christianity and Islam to bring greater dialogue, understanding and interreligious cooperation with other faiths. We would like to find suitable ways to assist those working in these areas, and we will avail ourselves with the body of human resources who are willing to help that we have worldwide.

Please enjoy our new site, where we will present not only updates on our activities, but cogent original commentaries by experts and scholars, as well as relevant news items, updated several times a week on issues dealing with global summitry and politics, religion, and other fields where our goals and objectives are manifested.
