Letter from the Chairman of the
Council of Presidents

Dear Friends,
Throughout history, men and women have followed many pathways
to attain world peace, but no effort - not surrender, conquest
or any other - have ever completely fulfilled the promise
of peace. Despite the valiant efforts of many people, peace
remains an elusive goal.
It is a source of great personal inspiration,
as Chairman of the Council of Presidents, to bring together
current and former heads of state, government and other world
leaders, and to harness their experience and statesmanship
in the quest for peace.
I believe that true peace will emerge not by
one party or nation defeating another and not by continuing
the historical cycle of conflict and resentment. True peace
will emerge when opposing factions focus not on their differences,
but on what they have in common. When the intrinsic, unique
value of individuals, societies, and nations is recognized
and celebrated, then we will find that what we share is much
greater than that which divides us. With common values and
purpose, the present cultural spheres can work together to
build a promising future.
This approach goes beyond economics, politics
and military strength to embrace the human spirit. The Summit
Council represents our best hope for world peace today because
it speaks to what is good and noble in the human spirit and
calls for an awakening of the deepest part of our ideals and
dreams.
World peace will be achieved when we emphasize
spiritual laws that transcend and give meaning to the physical
world, and when we establish a world community of peoples
and nations under the parenthood of God to build relations
of true love among us all.
Yours sincerely,
Dr. Aziz Sidky
Chairman
Council of Presidents, Summit Council
Prime Minister of Egypt (1972-1973)
